Northridge Hospital Foundation Awarded $841,897 Grant for Early Childhood Wraparound Services
The California Department of Health Care Services has awarded Northridge Hospital Foundation a two-year grant of $841,897 to fund Early Childhood Wraparound Services. This program will provide support to children ages 0-5 and their families who face socio-economic challenges and are in need of additional resources and support.
Key Highlights of the Program:
Targeted Support: Focuses on families with children ages 0-5 who face socio-economic challenges, providing crucial services to help them thrive.
Program Approach: The grant will fund the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model, an evidence-based program designed to foster early childhood development and prevent behavioral health challenges.
Four Core Components:
- Home Visits: Regular visits to support parents and caregivers in their roles and ensure developmental milestones are met.
- Group Connections: Opportunities for families to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another in group settings.
- Developmental and Health Screenings: Early detection of developmental delays, health concerns, and screenings for hearing and vision issues.
- Referrals to Community Resources: Connecting families to local services and resources that can provide ongoing support.
Program Goals:
- Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices.
- Provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues, leading to earlier interventions and better outcomes.
- Prevent child abuse and neglect through education and support.
- Enhance school readiness and long-term educational success for children.

- 12 Annual Group Connections: Families participate in hands-on activities and educational presentations to strengthen skills and build community.
- Health Screenings: Regular screenings for developmental, health, hearing, and vision concerns, ensuring early intervention.
- Early Intervention Services: Linking parents to services and support through an established network of community providers.
